Alicia is another of the groups our webmaster is with in Georgia. Ya sure ya betcha, it's not a PNW Band, but he pays the bills for this website, and he is with a NW band (The Regents), so we will forgive him for this other little detour out of the Pacific Northwest.
Sam Carlson,. May 2003Alicia is centered around Alicia Gardner and backed up by members also in The Breaks. Stand by for some upcoming dynamite recordings by this talented lady. ![]()
ALICIA GARDNERAlicia is a Musical Theater major at Kennesaw State here in the Atlanta area and is working on a degree in Musical Theater. Her passion has always been singing and music.
Hi, I’m Alicia!
I was born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1979, the last of four kids of Whit and Maureen. In our family there are two boys Sean and Michael, and two girls, my sister Amber, and me! Our family settled in Meridian, MS even though my parents are both from out west (New Mexico and California).
Singing for me began around age 3 and my favorite song at that time was “The Stray Cat Strut.” My dad always had a rock ’n roll band, so some kind of music was constantly going on in our house. We kids attended St. Patrick's Catholic Elementary school in Meridian, MS and then we moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, area. My “first live” public performance was a talent show in Kennesaw, GA at a “Show Boat” at church. Song of choice was “Somewhere Out There,” with a Fievel the mouse costume and all. It was great!
As the years passed, I became involved in talent shows and musicals. High School brought a part in “The Pirates Of Penzance” as well as other musical production parts. While in college I was in “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Candide,” and “Sweeney Todd.” I guess you can tell I really love musical theater.
As far as I can remember my earliest singing inspiration was Betty Buckley. Somehow I was lucky enough to meet her at the beginning and ending of her U. S. tour in 2000! She signed an autograph for me and I was so excited . . . I burst into song! It was a song she had done in “Cats.” She was quite surprised (and so was I) but she told me I had a beautiful voice! That was a thrill! Linda Eder is another inspiration and of course Barbra Streisand, whose voice is too wonderful for words.
In a recent trip to LA I had the privilege of being introduced to some professional people who were very kind to me and very motivating.Currently I’m working on writing original material with my friend, Bruce King, and in the future we hope to have a recording of our own music, as well as some other pieces that have an adult contemporary sound.
