The Collage Review was a 13-piece R&B group headed by Jim Little in Portland.  Jim was teaching music at Jefferson High School (the cities performing arts HS) at the time and he hired me to write, arrange, and ultimately perform with his band (no connection to the high school). They had six horns, four vocalists (including a powerful female vocalist named Michele Mariana), guitar (Lanny Gambucci), drums (Rick Cole), and I played Hammond Organ plus a Fender key bass.

The band initially rehearsed in the auditorium of the PUD in Vancouver, Washington but ultimately the crowd of onlookers expanded exponentially so we were forced to move rehearsals to a big storage room in the back of Arthur's Tavern during off hours on the outskirts of Vancouver.  The tavern was owned by a relative of Jim Little.

Neil Rush did a little booking for us but in the end there were too many mouths to feed and too much turnover in membership to continue, but it was a powerhouse review band.

We worked a number of venues during 1968-69 including high schools, colleges and the Salem Armory.
