"The Distortions" was an Everett, Washington band formed in 1965 while the members were still in junior high school.  Founded by Larry Baldwin, the group kept its original lineup of personnel for its duration, with only an early change of drummers.  Because of its extensive and varied song list, including some originals, the band kept a very busy schedule of bookings throughout Washington State.  The group played in many "Battle of the Bands", taking first place in every one of them.

The band changed its name to "Metropolitan Variety" just before the members moved on to other projects in 1968.  All members were in the class of 1969 at Everett High School, and Kathy was the Homecoming Queen that year.
