The Hangmen played mostly Junior High School because we were all only 15 or 16 years of age.  Our group included: Bob Lenz on guitar and lead vocals; Ned Voight on bass; Jimmy Hodge on lead and Greg Cole on drums.

We were fairly unique because we were all wet behind the ears white boys but played mostly soul and R&B.  We actually didn't know what kind of music it was at the time, we just picked out the sixty 45"s, that we liked the best, out of a box of over 200 that Jim Hodges' older brother had collected over the years.  Most of the records were not being played on the mainstream stations in 1964.

Some of the songs that we played were, Can't Sit Down, Land of a Thousand Dances, Money, Do You Love Me, Stand by Me, and some English band stuff such as, All Day and All of the Night and lots of stuff by Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Wailers, The Sonics, Yardbirds and The Stones.

An interesting note.... in 1964, a  couple of us met Jimi Hendrix, when he was still James Handpicks and was playing blues... before he went to England
