Hi-Fi was formed in early 1980, comprising me, Bruce Hazen (lead guitar), David Surkamp (ex-Pavlov's Dog, guitar & lead vocal), and Doug Rayburn (bass & keyboards, ex-Pavlov's Dog). We cut an unreleased 1st album with Bill Rieflin (ex-Blackouts, Robert Fripp, Ministry etc.) on drums. The second line-up (July '80) was me, David, Doug, and we added Bob Briley (drums) and Iain Matthews (ex-Fairport Convention, Matthews Southern Comfort) on vocals. This version toured the U.S. with the Beach Boys and others. Terminal line-up ('82) was me, Doug (on keys only), Gary Shelton (bass), Ian, and Bob. We broke up in '83, when I moved to London to cut album/tour with Ian.That's the nutshell story, we haunted the Astor Park along with the Heats, Cowboys, Billy Rancher etc.
