The band was originally formed as Perth Amboy in the late 60's by high school friends Ray Roper, Brian Lousley and Dan Atchison.  In 1973 they changed the band's name from Perth Amboy to Stonebolt. In early '76 David Wills from Seattle on vocals, and John Webster on keyboards filled out the lineup.  Through a contact with Johnny Rivers, they were signed by Russ Regan's label the following year.  Stonebolt enjoyed several years of recording and touring, appearing on shows like American Bandstand and Midnight Special.  They broke up in 1983, then reformed in 1997 with 4 of the 5 original recording members.  The guys now perform together several times a year at classic rock events.
