The Macabre Men were formed in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1966.  The group played mainly around Twin Falls at YMCA dances and Lynwood Mall street dances.  They also played at the IOOF Hall in Ketchum, Idaho.

The most notable gig for the band was opening up for Rusty the Clown (he claimed to be the brother of British actor Charles Laughton) in Pocatello, Idaho.  The band enjoyed rock star treatment playing before a large enthusiastic crowd of mostly grade school kids, but were never paid for the gig because Rusty the Clown absconded with all the funds from the show.
