Comments: I lost my Ballin'jack LP in a devorce back in 1979, (I'll never forgive her for that) I'm so happy to hear they're available on CD. The songs stayed in my head. They rocked my life back in the early 70's and will rock it again on CD.
Thank Them for me

Comments: I hung out will Chance Eden(Jim Neske) in the mid 60s in Rego Park, Queens, NY, where we both lived at the time. He got me my first job in the music biz at Roulette Records in NYC. I lost track of him in the 70s and was just searching around the web when I found this sight. I was really saddened to learn that Jim had passed away. Does anyone know how and where he passed away? I have several of Jim's 45s from Roulette, such a great singer and great guy. I would appreciate anyone who knew Jim to email me. Thanks, CJ

Comments: Sammy, This has got to be the greatest site of all time. Having grown up in the Seattle area in the 60's, I was exposed to all the greats, like The Dynamics, The Wailers, The Viceroys etc. Truly, a clear and distictive sound emerged from the Northwest Bands of that era. Bye now.

At the time of Elvis' passing he was performing in Vegas and thus assumed the stature as predecessor to The King. Comments: Does anyone have any information about Alexis Radlin (juno nominee for her debut album on Mushroom Records in 1975), and/or a scanable copy of this album. I had the joy of playing in her band in Vancouver. It was a pretty good band: Alexis Radlin, vocals & guitar; Jerry Doucette, vocals & guitar; Les Law, vocals & guitar; Tom Lavin, vocals & bass; and myself on drums. And we played at 'Rohan's' on 4th Ave. It was one of the best bands I ever played in. Duris Maxwell

Comments: I haven't had much luck getting in touch with any of my old band mates over the years. I have been far and wide, even broad, you might say. I spoke a bit with Gus Molvik back in '99 or so. I would very much like to hear from Pat Craig or especially Mike Beck, though I've been told that might be difficult. I'm looking to play, mainstream and hard bop tenor sax and jazz vocals.

Comments: Congratulations Dynamics on making the Northwest Hall of Fame! I'm a former '60 Sealth graduate and was married for 38 years to the Band and Orchestra teacher at Sealth High School - Ray Johnston. Terry and Jeff Afden had him as a music teacher, and he worked with Jerry, Tom, Bob, etc. in many music events. I was student director of The Frolics (the student talent Show) and Chairperson for the dances. I currently am the manager of Ray's dixieland jazz band (Duwamish) since his passing in 1999 at the age of 83. Duwamish Band is celebrating their 25th year in 2005.  I've been over 25 years as the Activities Coordinator at the Senior Center of West Seattle, and would love to host a revival of the Dynamics in mid 2005. The Center will be remodeling starting in January 2005 for at least 6 months. Our future emphasis is in attracting the "baby boomers" and cultivating activities for them.
Someone can contact me if interested.

Comments: Re: Angies comments of 26 September: "Warning: The wailers CD of the original Golden Crest recordings issued by Norton Records (NY) has 4 "demo" recordings at the end that are FAKE. They were not recorded by the WAILERS. Norton also has released the 4 "demos" on a 45EP as 1958 demos by The Wailers: the same FAKES!! How can we get our $$ back?"

The Wailer recordings on this CD are indeed the Wailers. They were recorded by Art Mineo in 1958 BEFORE the famous Golden Crest Recordings. To quote a statement from one of the participants in this release: "it's like saying the Beatles Hamburg tapes are fake because they don't sound like Eleanor
Rigby."

For myself, I recall conversations I personally had with Kent and Buck (of the Wailers) regarding these new releases. Both were somewhat tickled to finally have some of their very early demo material released.

The Norton CD releases are indeed of the Wailers.... The Boys From Tacoma

Comments: We were called "CALICO", primarily a "road band" that played all over the NW - Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls, Billings, Missoula, Pendleton, etc. We played a Country Rock format, and the band was together from Sept 1974 - June 1976. We had as players: 2 guitars, pedal steel, bass & drums. The band reunited in May 2002 for a one-time reunion show, then shortly afterward reformed, and is presently playing in the Spokane area periodically.

Comments: Hi again, It's great to see the photos I sent you of Baby Knockers up on your website. I was cleaning out the garage today, and came across something that might interest you. I have 2 cassette tapes of an interview that I recorded with Baby Knockers. This must be from about 1980 - I was probably a senior in high school. My friend Liane Nelson and I met with the band at the bass players house and interviewed them for a series of articles I wrote for the Wilson High School (Tacoma, WA) newspaper. I'd be happy to donate them to you, and maybe it would be fun to put some of the audio on the sight. I listened to the first few minutes, and it's still pretty good quality - very clear.

Allright, back to cleaning out the garage,
Lisa Cooke

Did they or some of them have long hair like The Shadows of Knight?  Who was the last Psycho Sonic to leave? When did he leave?  We would appreciate if you had links (name underlined) to their post-Sonics groups such as Bob Bennett linked to Ice & The Barney Armstrong Revue, Andy Parypa linked to that Beach Boys looking group featuring Kingsman Barry Curtis and that rock 'n' roll revival group that still exists today. Why no links?

A great find here is Louie Louie singer Jack Ely looking like Jesus in the Portland Zoo. That's total coolness.

Had a career as an El music teacher and then organized a band again in 1986. We play OLD TIME and POLKA music. Check out our web site: www.fjordsong.com

Comments: BUTTERFAT was an excellent band of Wyoming expatriates who moved to Seattle in about 1970 searching for a better climate and a hipper audience. They played a heady brew of rootsy music, derived from blues, country, rock, jug-band, soul and gospel, with an overlay of big-band swing. They were the definition of Americana long before the term was coined. Some members of the band wrote superb original songs as well, and they welcomed a cast of musical characters onstage to embellish the basic unit of two guitars, bass, drums, and organ. Butterfat lived communally on NE 85th Street, just off Lake City Way, with a variety of girlfriends, pets, roadies and loadies. They were the very picture of the 60's stereotype.

The original band as it arrived in Seattle, was led by Cory McDaniel, a fine singer, songwriter and guitarist, with a talent for keeping the bills paid in spite of the others. Lead singer Paul Huber played harmonica and percussion, and was, indeed still is, an exquisite fine artist with an international reputation. He was responsible for the atmospheric graphics used on Betterfat's posters and album covers. Bill Hayes, lead guitarist, also wrote excellent songs and sang with a particularly soulful voice. His seemingly star-crossed life ended before he reached the age of thirty. The rhythm section consisted of Randy Murray on bass and Donny Teesdale on drums.

As the band members became comfortable with the Seattle scene, some personnel changes occurred. Ed Rooney became the bass player, Hank Sondie came aboard with his saxophone, Huber's organ was replaced by the piano of the mysterious Janay Jernberg, who quickly became the spiritual advisor to the group, and David Tate assumed the drummer's throne. All of these guys, with the single exception of Sondie, were Wyomingites! Eventually Spencer Bohren, a musical compadre from Casper, Wyoming, joined as lead singer, percussionist, trombonist and third guitarist, though the band hardly needed another guitarist.

Comparisons were made at the time to bands like The Lovin' Spoonful and Buffalo Springfield, and The Youngbloods and Holy Modal Rounders were part of the band's wacky circle of friends. Butterfat made at least a couple of albums and toured the Pacific Northwest, Northern California and the wide-open spaces of the Old West. Some of the members, Cory McDaniel and Spencer Bohren for sure, continue to share their music with American and European audiences and with each other.

Comments: I was in a few different groups in central fl. during the 60's, the most significant being "Big Dave & The Come-Ons". The members were myself on bass, Denny Joon on guitar, Dave Carleton on keys(organ) and Terry Orwick on drums. All of us did vocal and harmonies except terry. All of us still live in the samr area except for Terry; Dave is still active in a 50's/60's group, Terry lives in Virginia and stil gigs, Denny and I are not currently gigging but have home studios; we are thinking about putting together a group. Thourghly enjoyed your site , brought back a lot of grear memories..........neil

Comments: I'm trying to find someone. The only information I have on him, is: 1) his name is Bill (maybe short for William), 2) he had long, brown, curly hair (in 1979), 3) in 1979, he and his band - Sideshow - were playing in Pennsylvania (maybe Ohio), 4) he played Saxaphone and was the lead singer, 5) he was married with children...not sure what else to write. I posted this here, because in my search - this website continuosly comes up, so I thought that maybe someone would be able to assist me in finding this man. For those whom wish to know why...My mother had a one night stand with him, and I may have been the result of that night - I would just like to find him, and then get a DNA test to find out if indeed he is my father.
Thank-you for your time.
