The band first formed in 1997 when founding members Billy Stoops and Leanne Trevalyan were working with their own projects as well as performing together in another. Musicians from all three projects were hand picked and Junkyard Jane, as we know it today, was born.

Some of the best horn players in the Northwest have been part of Junkyard Jane as well as some of the areas top drummers. The two reunion shows in September 2007 will bring together most of JJ’s alumni, including saxophonist extraordinaire Susan Orfield, the Duke of Trombone Randy Oxford, and the triple threat of Jim King on saxophone, harmonica, and vocals. The lineup will be completed with drummers, Chris Leighton, Darin Watkins, and Tom Sunderland; and founding member Barbra Blue will round out the rhythm section on bass guitar.
