Morning Star was founded in Victoria BC early in 1969 with Dave Vidal on guitar, Carl Smyth on bass, and Harry Creech on drums. By 1972 the band had expanded to 5 members, with the addition of Jim Smith, guitar and vocals, Roy Rhymer, guitar, and Don Chandler on bass. Playing all original material, Morning Star was a staple of the old Club Tango underground scene and the university pub circuit. In the later 70's, the band reformed one last time, becoming a trio with Dave Vidal on guitar, Roy Rhymer on bass, and Harry Creech on drums.
