In Memory of
Dale Green (d: 2008)
Drummer Tom Bennett and I formed the Noblemen in the summer of 1964 in Tacoma after our group The Krevits broke up. We combined with Hicks, Kellogg and Snyder from the remains of another group and added Sarandos. Hicks, Bennett, Kellogg, Snyder and I were in the group from start to finish in 1966, when Uncle Sam called Bennett and Snyder, and Kellogg and I were graduating from high school and off to college the next fall.
We played at most of the area high schools, the Evergreen Ballroom, Perl's in Bremerton, the Armory in Tacoma, and many times at the Red Carpet. We were often advertised on Seattle radio stations KJR and KOL, and we recorded for Jerry Dennon in Seattle with Kearney Barton as the engineer.
The Halloween all-city dance at the Tacoma Armory in 1965 featured the Wailers, Sonics and Noblemen - probably one of the last dances at the Armory. It was wall-to-wall with kids!
