Pacheena - Toured with Jerry Doucette and became a prominent force in the Vancouver music scene very quickly. They worked best on a large stage with their high-energy show. For this reason they preferred schools and college dates.

What a wonderful idea and a well-designed site.

The band originated in Port Alberni in 1974 and was then called the Goombah Brothers. The name changed a few times once we hit the Prairies and B.C. Interior circuit (Gibraltar, Ram, the Joe Buxton Band) before we settled on Pacheena and hit the Vancouver scene in 1978.

All of the members maintain some attachment to the trade:  John Ellis is a producer/engineer/writer/guitarist in Vancouver.  Bryan Wilson and Mike Schmidt play in a couple of Vancouver area bar bands; Steve Todd has relocated to the Okanagan where he juggles live performing and studio work; and I am now back in my hometown of Victoria spending most of my time as a farmer and cabinetmaker, yet I manage some time for songwriting and recording.

On behalf of the boys in the band, thank you for compiling and sharing the photos and information on all of the wonderful and talented groups in the Pacific Northwest.  It is nice to see myself with a full head of hair once again!

Cheers, Brett Smyth, October 2005
