Kidd Afrika formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1967.  After high school graduation, the band moved to Tacoma in 1970 and then to Seattle in 1971.  Kidd Afrika remained based out of Seattle until their breakup in 1982.

Kidd Afrika recordings can be heard  in the "Artists" section at

Like many Northwest bands, Kidd Afrika was often called upon to provide back-up to name artists that rolled through the Northwest, but didn’t travel with their own group.  A memorable pair of nights for fans of Bo Diddley and Kidd Afrika, March 1978, yielded this rare documentation from the Rainbow Tavern, THE University hot spot on 45th at I-5.
