Randy Hansen's Machine Gun was formed in 1977 when Hansen, Epperly and Kelliher left Kid Chrysler and the Cruisers to form an act concentrating on a Jimi Hendrix tribute. In three years the band went from a house gig in Kent to touring all over the U.S. They shared stages with Heart, The Kinks, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others. They also received write-ups in Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. In 1979, Randy performed on the soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" and in 1980 recorded his debut album for Capitol Records.Tim Kelliher, December 2003
I am Rick Schultze and I was Randy's booking agent initially when Machine Gun Music was formed. I'm just curious as to what happened to those guys??
Rick Schultze, August 2007
I did lights for Randy Hansen for four years. I started in the early days of Machine Gun all the way up to the second tour doing his originals.
Our early road manager was Ed Wannebo. He is now working for Kenny Chesney. Floyd Rose (Floyd Rose Wang bar fame) was doing sound.
We set a lot of attendance records. DAY ON THE GREEN -1980, had 80,000 in attendance, Santa Monica Civic, and several others all without record support.
