The Bad Bees

The Bad bees were the brainchild of Bruce Malmberg and Steve “Sarge” Stransky, in the early 1980’s.  The concept was to put together a really high energy band, with 100% rockin’ tunes, mostly  from the 80’s, but a few high energy “oldies” thrown in for good measure.

After the demise of Seattle’s “Dillinger”, Sarge  and Bruce contacted a couple members of a great 70’s band known as Stumblin’ Gold, and drummer Steve MC Cowen and started working hard to assemble a set list that rocked hard.  The first lineup of the band looked like this…

Left to Right:
Bruce Malmberg:  Guitar, Keys and Vocals
Steve Mc Cowen: Drums
Marty Kona:  Bass and Vocals
Steve Stransky: Sax, Keys, Guitar, Blues Harp and Vocals
Mike Crocker:  Guitar and Vocals

The band played some classic clubs from West Seattle to Marysville, but soon needed some member substitutions, so the group took on this form:

Left to Right:
Bruce Malmberg:  Guitar, Keys and Vocals
Steve Stransky: Sax, Keys, Guitar, Blues Harp and Vocals
Ken Verver:  Bass and Vocals
Ernie K:  Drums and Vocals

The Bees went on to play every where from Tacoma to Bellingham,  Dez’s 400 to Goldies North, Tri cities to downtown, all points were central to their unofficial office downtown, The Gibson House.

Bruce Malmberg left us all last year, to play in the greatest band of all and we miss him, but all will remember his energy and spirit, in the Bad Bees.
