In Memory of

Ken Stuberfield

The Chessmen were a really good band but didn't stay together too long.  I think most of them moved away to go the college.  Bob Enquist is now a dentist and living in California the last I heard.  Dick Walker lives in British Columbia.

The above photo was taken in 1960 and published in the Aberdeen Daily World as a promotion for a series of gigs at the Ocosta Grange Hall which later became the "Silver Seagull".

I can still remember going with the promotor, a deejay who's name escapes me, and meeting with the Grange committee, local farmers who were feeling pretty skeptical about this new endeavor. The money, however, proved irresistible.
