Comments: Hi I'm Dick's Middle Daughter Shelly I want to thank everyone for the support of my Dad's Passing 12/19/2005, We all know how special my Dad was to have around, always making you laugh, Giving you a hand even if he had better things to do ,Him and I had this thing at the Holiday table, and I'm going to miss those food fights! "Yeah he was a big Kid " My Mom always said she'd beat our butts, but to tell ya the truth I dont think she could bend him over the knee so he was never worried, One thing about my Dad he always made time for his Family and Friends. So I want to thank every one for making time for him. Alittle thing my Dad always said "LIFE IS TO SHORT, SO LIVE EVERY DAY TO IT'S FULLEST" I belive thats what My Dad did, I hope every one will do the same I know I will. Love Ya Dad.

Comments: I played drums for the Coachmen and The Four Playboys, 1961-1965. I was surprised to hear of Tony Winslow's passing. I played with his older brother, Dave, and gave Tony his first drum lessons. Yes, he was a truly funny guy, with a huge heart. He will be missed.

Comments: I have the original Grown Men promo flyer I drew for them... noticing that you don't have any photos on that page.  I played with several of the Oregon bands during the '70's: The Last Straw, Whiskey Creek String Band, The Holy Modal Rounders/Clamtones, Beggar's Banquet, Wheatfield, Yonder, Skittish, & some others.  Still World Unknown as the Best Scrub-board player this side of the North Pole.

Comments: I was introduced to you guys by my youth pastor when I was 14. I even went to one of your concert at the wenatchee High School. I believe if I remember right it was light manuvers concer that my youth group went to. any how it was awsome and I still have that LP to this day! I'ts still encoraging when im fealing down. Especially the songs surrender & one at heart but there all good.Any how r u guys ever gonna make another album you should. If you have I want to buy it. any how God bless you.

Comments: I grew up with Guy Arsenault and Wayne Diggins. I hadn't seen Guy in about eight years prior to his death. I was lucky enough to see Wayne about a year and a half before his death and talked to him a couple day's before he left for the East that year.  There probably isn't two day's in a row that I don't think about Wayne, we were best buddies. At one time Guy, Wayne and myself were the rock steady crew.
I'll miss them both dearly, until I hopefully meet them again.

Comments: While I was a member of both the Triumphs and the Toggeries, Stan Reimer and I left the Toggeries and started the Coachmen. Members were: Stan Reimer-Guitar and vocals; Dave Brewster-Drums and vocals; Rick Rudy - Bass; Jerry Ranger-Saxophone; Jeff McSorley - Organ,Piano,Trumpet. I may still have a picture of the Triumphs and one of the Coachmen.

Comments: I wasn't a musician, I was a soundman.  It would be great to find out where all the other crew people got to. I did house sound at Astor Park, Baby-o's, Michael-Js, and many others. Worked just about every venue in Greater Seattle/Portland/Vancouver.  Bands I worked for were Big Fun, HI-FI, Impacts, many others eventually going to Queensryche.  Any other crew people out there???

Comments: I was the bass player/vocalist with the CHERCHERS in the late 50's (we're on the site!); I guess that was what got me started in music. In the 70's and early 80's I worked with Red Thelin's COUNTRY STARLIGHTERS, a local country-rock band, then in '89 joined up with BORDERLINE and Alex Manriquez; a 10-year ride with good memories. Have been at it ever since in one form or another. Still into it, although a bit more relaxed; bluesy-folk semi-acoustic creations from our guitar player and percussionist. We (STUMBLWEED) play the Snoqualmie Valley area, usually at the P&G Speakeasy Cafe in Duvall (come see Paula McDonald for some outrageously good eats!!)  After years of trying to go deaf, it is refreshing to be able to still hear subtle tones. BUT......I still like to get with a good Blues or Rock-n-Roll jam whenever possible. Man, there are a bunch of GREAT players in the greater Puget Sound Area, and I have had the good fortune to be in a jam or two woth some of them. Makes the secondhand smoke worthwhile (but we'll lose that soon, won't we?).

Comments: I was a student of Gary Evans' in the 70's - apparently paying attention only to the scales and rifts he was teaching - now, looking at the site, I realize I have had the pleasure of working with many of the New Deal members: Ray Downey and Tom Anastasio (Salt Water Octet with Mark Kelly, dir.) I'm glad I was paying attention to Gary's lessons....Proves there's a place for the little girl who wants to play Flute, Tuba, sax... and CAN SING! Too COOL! Great site.

Comments: I was searching my bands name Centrix and I found this site with a band from the 60's with the same name just thought it was weird as me and my cousin made the name up from the song She’s Electric by Oasis from the line “She's in a family full of eccentrics” we took eccentrics and then shortened it too centric the add X instead of C, its just weird that’s all.

Comments: As an alumni of Renton High School class of '65, many of the names ring a bell. Jim Boggs was a friend of mine, even though it's been many years since I saw him last. I remember when Dan Munger and his girlfriend Mary lost their lives after his gig at Enumclaw HS. The entire RHS was in shock. I went to all the dances around the area. Couldn't keep me away from Lake Hills. I played drums in a little garage band with Stan Markgraf and Carl Lewis "The Nitros" until Uncle Sam got me in the Summer of '66. We didn't get too far, but it was a blast! I remember Scott Schneider in a drum battle with Jim Plano in the RHS auditorium in '64 . . . and much much more. This is a great site. Glad I found it!

Comments: I went to The Iron Horse in Coeur d'Alene last nite to see 'The Cronkites'. My old band-mate, Mike Stirn, (formerly with 'Kracker' and 'U.S.K.') is the quitarist. Wow! What a thrill to see those guys, in their fifties, hammering out those great old rock tunes,(loud, loud, loud) driving the gyrating youngsters wild with their throbbing, pounding hard rock. The place was absolutely packed to the walls. What fun!
This coming weekend 'The Cronkites' will be at Fizzies in north Spokane (Mead.) You've got to see this band!

Comments: Great site, boy did it bring back the 70's. Loved the info on Casey's in Lewiston,Id. I saw many a band there & at Bullwinkles. Didn't see anything on the bands Fandangle or Norallaho. Miss the wild days of the Blue Mt. Rock festivals in Moscow. Other bands that played in Lewiston were Brotherlove, Big Fat, Flash, Weston Davis,Orphin Annie & Doogy.

We did have the honor of opening for the Wailers when they played at South Eugene High School in 1967.
My daughter (now 15) is learning guitar, and has been asking questions about NW Rock music, so I dug out some old vinyl, and decided to search for more info on the web.  I really regret having traded my old copy of The Wailers Live at the Castle for a copy of Out of Our Tree back in the late 60's. It was a pleasant experience to find that it's been re-issued on CD. I ordered a copy.  Listening to your clip of Gail Harris from that album reminded me how good these folks were. And Gail. I'd forgotten how great a singer she was at only 13 years old!

Nice to see so many others(bands ) as well.Started playing at age 14(not legal...ooops) in such heavy duty Vancouver clubs as The Retinal Circus.Played with several bands from 1968 to 1980, Bowser Moon being the last (not necessarily the best).Have lived many lives since.Thank you to whomever for this cool site !!

Comments: I stayed with The Enemy when I came over to Seattle to climb Mt. St Helens and see The Kinks. They had just recorded a song called "Rats With @#%$!, This Long!", which included a sledge hammer hitting a piano as percussion. Great.

Comments: Thanks for including our band Stepson in you great website. I'd like to advise you of a few errors. 1) The drummer's name is Len Fagan not Les Fagan. 2) Joey Newman's birth name was Vern Kjellberg not Vern Kjellman. 3) Don Gallucci, Jimmy Greenspoon, and Jeff Simmons were not members of Stepson. All three were good friends of the band and all three did perform on the Stepson album as sidemen. Don Gallucci, John Bordonaro, Jeff Hawks, Joey Newman, and I were members of the PNW band Touch. Jimmy Greenspoon was an original member of Three Dog Night and was still a member of that band when we recorded the Stepson album. I think Jeff Simmons was still a member of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at that time. Jeff also had his own solo album by then as well.  I think Stepson performed from 1971 - 1974. Any musician that was active durring the late 60's through at least mid 70's that has a real clear recollection of the exact dates of undocumented events should propably be taken with a grain of salt.

Comments: Hi. Is Chuck Heinold the same Chuck H. who played with Tommy and Teentones?  I saw and loved that band in the early 70's when they played in boise, idaho. Where in the heck is Chuck now? Gosh, they were a fun band.    My favorite band of the early 60's when you played the Fiesta Ballroom in boise when I was very young. I actually have a picture with some signatures on it I just found behind my high school pic. Fantastic.  I have fond memories of the mucic and dancing with all the boys.

Comments: I have a saxophone my brother gave me in 1966. It was second hand and I loved it. I still have it and have been trying to find some history on it. It was made in Italy and it has the word Kent (hand?) carved on the front of the bell. Every search to connect the name, or word, Kent to saxophones leads to Brian Kent so... Well, I am writing in hopes that perhaps someone will know something about my horn.

Comments:  George...You took the words right out of my mouth. I'll cut my e-mail short. I would like to express my gratitude to both you and Kris Johnson for your tireless efforts this past weekend. You guys were an inspiration to all of us.   Yes...Fantastic Orange and Clearview were amazing!! They provided the solid foundation for two straight days of music and entertainment. A great bunch of musicians.  Veteren Ice Age bassman, Bill Cleland, was in attendence as was Billy Mcpherson the multi-talented hornman and only Regent member in attendance this year.
This festival will be a lot bigger in 2006 and definitely something to look forward to. We encountered a large herd of elk on the way home and had to pull off highway 101 for ten minutes as they passed slowly in front of us. Quite a sight!

Check with Kris Johnson for the follow-up with the representatives of Forks regarding a possible return next year. The person he was talking with when I left seemed pleased and wanted a bigger event next year. She also appologized for their lapses in communication and organization and promised to do better next year.

By the way Kris did more than an excellent job of running the equipment and show, and leading the "Sound-Check Band" that played for hours on both days with various personnel including me on keyboards and lead/back-up vocal.  The Hood Canal Bridge was closed Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday. Thus, we were thankful for the presence of all three original members of the Fantastic Orange Band (Earl Allen, John Fischer, and Rich Chapman). Bill Dean jammed on Saturday.  An excellent drummer (Mark Macham) came from Cloquet, MN to play with John Fisher (Bass Guitar of the Fantastic Orange Band) and Kirby Aumick (Bass and Lead player).  These three had a power trio together in the late 1970's called Clearview.   We had one local high school young man on drums who also sat in and ran off to tell his friends about his experiences.

A great time was had by all, meeting each other sometimes for the first time. Many stories of Northwest rock history were told late into Saturday night. We thought of you many times and wished you were here to see your creation.  I hope this event becomes an annual one at Forks. More groups should show up next year if a firm committment is made by Forks folks and advance publicity is given out. It was fun and many friends were found by all.  The community enjoyed the good old rock n' roll!

Comments: I stumbled onto Sam's terrific website a couple years ago and quickly sent him some info on a couple of the bands I played with, The Trolly in the late 60's and Good Stuf in the mid-seventies. The Trolly played in all the top teen venues at the time, Lakehills, Pearls in Bremerton, Parker's, The Dunes in Westport, on and on. Good Stuf which included the late, mondo great guitarist Rich Dangel played some of the Seattle clubs like the Embers on Alki. Within a couple years of the break-up of Good Stuf, I got a real job at a local airplane company where, oddly enough, a lot of other ex-rockers spend their days. As I meet them, I share this website with them. Thanks so much to Sam for managing this website...it is really something great you are doing for our old scene! There will never be another time like those days.

Richard Perks was Tenor Sax with that Group, but his day job was as a member of the Engineers Band [Clarinet] of Camp Chilliwack, later with the HMCS Naden Band in Esquimalt when the Chilliwack Band was disbanded.

Comments: I believe Dick Newfeld [or Neufeld] was lead guitarist for the Checkmates of Chilliwack. Other musicians from Chilliwack during this period: Gerry Britton, Gary Baker, Derry Chidlow, Herb Merriman, Jack Hiebert, Ray Stewart, Ernie Britton, etc. I have photos taken during Battle of the Bands at the old, old Legion Hall on Kipp Ave c1962 and these might help my memory. The Briars with Brett Wade is listed, but a previous band The Mystics [Chilliwack] is not. Ronal TV sold guitars and drums to most of the locals during the Sixties.

I was in a band called the Satellites (aka Jaguars), and we were auditioned by the Viceroys after one of their gigs upstairs at the Elks hall in Walla Walla. I have an original copy of Granny's Pad album.   Following the Satellites, I was in another band called the TEKNIKS. Neither band did much outside the Walla Walla, Dayton, and Tri-Cities area. We had fun and made money. We were too young to know anything beyond that. I joined the Navy in 1969 and left the PNW.

Comments: I was in several NW groups before & after my army tour (65-67). Settled in Socal in the early '70s. Still perform or woodshed several times a week, go out of town once in a while. Early Seattle bands were more mature than most of that day and those of us who took advantage of the exposure set a solid and style-unaffected musical foundation that seems to have always served well in all the popular styles. Comments: My brother Bill Hornibrook and I formed The Alters in 1964 in Goldendale, Washington. Bill played keyboards, I played drums, and Doug Deeds was on sax. The group evolved into the Goldmen in 1965 with Dave Wheelon on bass, John Wheelon on vocals and a second set of drums, and Greg Fortner on lead guitar. We released one single through NW recording in 1965 titled "I'm In Love" and "Shy Sal". Both cuts were awful so there is no point in saying one was the A side and the other was the B. We were popular as a high school dance band but that was about it. Bill went on to a lengthy carrer in the Seatle area playing with The Feelies, Sluggo, and Shacker before retiring to the life of a gentleman farmer in 1986, I left the drums for the stage becoming an Equity actor in 1969. Greg Fortner passed away several years ago but the rest of us still stay in touch.

I also played with The Puget Sound Stagecoach Co.,Tequila Sunrise,and The Impostors,as well as a few others over the years.

At that time Rocking Robbin was their lead singer.  Some of our original posters were given to the Experience Music Project in Seattle. Dont know where they are now. Comments: We are the Sounds of Silence from Rosalia, Washington - We started in the Summer of 1973. The original 4 guys just played at the 2005 All-Class reunion. Barry Watkins, D.J. at KEYF in Spokane is our bass player. We play 50's, 60's music for dancing. There is an earlier verison of the band that started in '63. Today we have the Watkins Brothers - Barry and Scott bass and drums - they play both, Greg Martin - guitar, Tracy Porter - guitar, everyone sings.

Comments: I have lost touch with almost everyone I used to hang with at the Medicine Show, the original Comet, Fresh Air, Dr Johns, Walrus, Blue Moon, Zoo and 12th Ave E in the 60's (too many have already died). I filled in as roadie with the NW R&R Band sometimes too. Some might remember me at the Grease Palace in Fremont, Biggys Kharma (yes with the 'H') Repair on Lynn Street etc

Comments: I was a Fragile Lime "groupie lite" in the late 60s, early 70s. My sister and I followed them in the circuit - Lake Hills, Tiffany's Kent and Puyallup, and where ever else they showed up. I loved Bob's fringe and good looks, Mark's dangerousness, Tim's cuteness, Ed's aloofness, and Danny's sexy eyes and gentlemanly demeanor. They were the ultimate band for us young girls who craved a real live band connection. I even "dated" Danny once, on my front porch, with my dad nearly having a heart attack inside. I think Danny figured out I was just an innocent trying to be cool. It was fun while it lasted.

Comments: I used to live next door to Kent Morrill's dad on Gem Ct. in Grapeview, WA. We left just after Mel's wife Orilla passed away. We had moved to Raymond WA and saw the Wailers when they played there. Mel (Kent's dad) was still alive then and we were wondering (he would be over 100 or so) if he is still around. We think about him often. Any chance of the Wailers coming to Reno? Bob Marley's Wailers are here this weekend and we were hoping it was you guys.  I hope to get a reply, thanks.

Comments: We went under two different names and never became good enough or well enough known to matter. My favorite band was always the Chancellors and Paul Revere and the Raiders. I found the Chancellors on your site from a google search it is a real gas. I did some booking for them and have live recordings of the late years of the band. Saw Paul Revere last fourth of July at the Fort McDowell Casino here in AZ he can still rock and puts on a great show it was a blast!! Enjoyed your site alot keep up the good work.

W. , and was surprised to see that many of my former colleagues had died.   Ron Brockman, who played in Bazarak and Roundhouse, was a friend and I would like to get in touch with his wife and son. I have some old pictures taken in the mid-70s that might be of interest to them.   Ron's wife's name was Donna (nee Kesterton, I think), and his son's name is Rod. Comments: Wow! I just Checked out the newly added 50's band, 'West Coast Ramblers'. That's the coolest picture I ever saw! I also just checked out the newly added 80's + band, 'City Knightz'. The guitarist, Mike Beriault, and I were close buddy's in the 5th and 6th grade...we actually played a little music together back then, I on piano and he on guitar. Later, in Jr High School, Mike joined a band called 'The Masters'. They were the first band I ever heard of my own age group that could actually play and sing well. They won all the battles of the bands.

Comments: My daughter and I are moving to Nanaimo in May and I'm interested in finding out as much as I can about the music scene there. Unfortunately we're leaving behind my dad (her grandpa) here in Ontario who is a musician (since the 60s) and who my daughter loves to see play. She (as well as myself) has inherited the talent. My dad is also interested in possibly getting some gigs or sitting in with a few musicians when he comes out to visit us. If you have any ideas, please let me know, he's an incredible keyboard (piano, Hammond Organ) player. The group was named after a style of Rhythm 'n' Blues drumming - FAT BACK - and a sugar packet that was lying on our table at the Wooden Barrel night club in Burnaby, B.C. We were trying to come up with a soulful band name. The packet read - Pure CANE Sugar. "Cane" was changed to "cain" - FAT BACK CAIN. Changing the third word in the band's name made it sound more religious and therefore, to our ears, more Southern U.S.   The best received tune we did, was a speeded up Las Vegas show-band [Caratenuto-influenced] version of "STROKE MY YOKE" by Willie Tomlin, originally released on DUKE Records.

We did tour Holland and Germany as Canada's #1 band in 1967, recorded on Polydor and played many standing room only concerts.Since I have been slow in putting up a Centaurs homepage I will now share the info for the record.

Comments: It's great to see 2 new 60's bands, 'London Company' and 'Backward Door' added to the site. I'm glad that Billy Bair of 'Backward Door' made mention of their manager and agent, Jeanie Carter. I was a booking agent with her compeditor Agency in Spokane, Northwind Booking Alliance. We respected Jeanie alot. I remember that she was tireless in furthering the careers of her bands. Her untimely death was a great loss to the NW band community.  By the way, The drummer, Tom Williams, with 'London Company'later drummed for the 70's band, 'Sleepy John'. They were way good!

Comments: Hello,  I have a single on the Nolta label called "Portland Jive" (355) and the group is Mr. Lee and the El Caminos. I notice that at least one NW band recorded on that label and the El Caminos were active in the area... could this be the same El Caminos...and who is Mr. Lee? I think Mr. Lee is the saxophonist the El Caminos featured an organist, guitarist, drummer and bassist...and maybe another reed man in this recording.

We were contemporaries of Lance Romance, Prairie Creek, Kidd Afrika,etc., playing country rock and rock and roll (everything from Haggard to Hendryx). Comments: I played with the BEHYNDMAN BAND from Haney in 1970. Band members were Ken Palunga (spelling?)lead vocals, George McDonald=Vocals & Guitar, Owen Morsh=Lead Guitar, Ross White=Bass and me on Drums. There were a couple of bands in Haney at that time that were just starting out - lots of jamming going on. I remember one other drummer in particular: Gord Mitchel - He was a natural and a very good rock drummer -left hand player. I wonder where he is today. I ran into him around 1976 or so in Enderby (north Okanagan area) and haven't kept in touch since then. I have a promo-type photo of BEHYNDMAN BAND if you would like it I'll send it along.

Comments: Too cool...seeing Stella Chapman transformed from a geeky kid in the 60s band 'Nutcracker Brigade', to a beautiful young woman in the 70s band "Stella & The Back Porch review" to an attractive middle ager in the 80s+ Band, 'Cadillac Bros Band'. I never met Stella, but I did know her booking agent, John Nyberg from Far West Entertainment. I recall that John spoke glowingly of her personally and of her band, 'Back Porch Review'. Bye now.

Comments: sammy it's been a while and ive been wanting to write but it's hard. as you know my bother sam passed away and i had to take care of so much, well sam was my brother,my best friend, my menter and more. words don't come to me when i try to tell how importand he is to me. on sunday after sams wake i went to jam in memory of sam and ended up jammin for my friend curtis (mr. C )williams who passed away that day.so it's been rough here.seems like we're loosin so much talant.i'll miss these great players and those that have gone on already. with love and sorrow in my heart i say good by to them..... rich

Comments: I played in a band called the Bel-Aires in the early 60's. I played baritone sax and we were together for about 3 years until everyone went off to college and the service. Unfortunately the leader of the group passed away several years ago and I have no idea whatever happened to our demo tapes, promo's and pictures.  This is a great site and I love coming here to remember "the good old days."

Comments: I and a couple of my old band mates, Steve and Mike, went to Ankeny's (high atop the Ridpath Hotel in Spokane) last night to see (and hear) 'SOUL PROPRIETOR'. Wow! They cooked: tight/punchy bass & drums, powerful and clean brass section, good keyboard and guitar leads, a sexy/talented chick singer and a great selection of meterial. (The sound engineer also did an excellent job.)

Comments: Hi, I have 3 albums of Jack Bedient & The Chessmen. One is at Harolds in Reno, Live at Harvey's Lake Tahoe and Where Did She Go? That one --Where did she go, is Sam Wisner in that album? It does show 3 guys on the front cover and also again on the back? We are wondering if these albums are worth anything? They are not listed in the Goldmine American Records book. Thanks Jim

Toby Croone, Danny Lygo, Doug Green, Earl Mack and me. Toby had just left a group called Purplehaze, with Bobby Simmons. Many of these musicians sprang from Garfield Highschool's stage band 59-66

Comments: I'm not sure why my bands are not listed but I have sent in all the information over a year ago and have spoken to you several times on the phone. I had several bands in the seventies including Center Three, Crystal Ship and Moon Dance.  Besides trying to find out what happened, I wanted to let you know I have a new CD coming out call "Mount St. Helens was a Blowin". Gift shops around the mountain have already ordered CD's. I was in Ellensburg where I went to the University and then headed up the band Moon Dance when the mountain erupted and completely blackened out the sky that day. That's what the song is about. Comments: The web page of the band is Out Of Sight!  Like capturing a photo of diamonds in the rough. What a beautiful sense of nostalgia, back in the day... I've heard some of the songs and want to get them on CD or tape so will try following the website directions. I know Pete DePoe who gained some fame from being in Redbone. Yet the way he has brought up Mr. Clean and the Cleansers so often and fondly, its clear that was not only his beginning but was one of the happiest times of his life (or at least is now remembered as such, Ha!) I ran into this site a while ago, quite suprised at its extent and that fact that a couple of my old bands are on it.  It's a great site and brings back many, many memories.

I see Tim Hill's name listed frequently.  I assume he's one of the webmasters. Great site, Tim, and you were a great organ player in "Scot Free" in 1969. I was very sorry to see that Larrl Melsten died. How and when?

I'm sure you saw that Dudley Hill, our guitarist in "The Bluefield Doughboys" in 1967 recently passed away.

Whatever happened to: Jeff Bernhoft, Tony Buhr, Ron Rosenbloom, and you, Tim?

To keep the record updated, I've been in broadcast news since 1973, radio and TV.  I just left the CBS Radio Network in NY and I'm joining the AP Radio Network in Washington, DC as an anchor/correspondent. I managed not to get my ass shot off during two trips to Kuwait and Iraq.

Looking back, there were no times as sweet, friends so strong, and music so good as back then.

Comments: Well, I managed the Pins (which became the RangeHoods (Hewitt, Pearson, Shaw, and Bruce, my room mate, now deceased, for more than several years. I started out managing WagonWheelie Willie and the Five Spokes in the seventies, which included Pat Hewitt and Pat Gossan of Floating Bridge Fame. I actually have a Vhs tape of the PINS I made in Bellevue. Many more stories and info, that perhaps no one or some one would like to hear.We played the street for years, from the "baptise" era and the Astro Park to the "no cheese please" days..etc., etc., etc. Hi!

Comments: How 'bout a little band story just for fun.... It was the summer of 69 (yes, that same summer another NW rocker, Bryan Adams, sang about.)  Jeff Beals, of G.E.C booked my band 'The Beard' on our 1st out of town (overnight)gig. We were to open for 'The NW Rock'n'Roll Band and 'The Bards' at The D&D Roller/Bowl in Wenatchee. That same nite, the dance promoter, Ollie Burns, held a dance in Ephrata where the headliners were also, 'The NW Rock'n'Roll Band' and 'The Bards'. The 3rd act at the Ephrata dance was Ollie's son's band 'Double Image'. The two headliners packed up and drove between cities while the other was playing their set. Tricky logistics but somehow it all worked out. After the gig, we went to spend the nite at the Ollie Burns residence. There we met Ollie's kids Bob and Bill. In the morning Mrs Burns made us all a great breakfast and we were on our way home back to Lynnwood. I recall that Ollie Burns seemed to be the perfect Dad. And the Burns family: friendly, outgoing and corgial. Bye now. Chuck.

Comments: Sammy, I noticed that the 60's band 'ARMY' (who later became 'HEART') has no photo. Well I just saw a supurb pic of the boys in Roger Fisher's web site. Judging from their garb,(Don Wilhelm's Neru jacket)looks like the pic was taken in 1967. As you know, Roger was lead guitarist in both bands. I recall my band 'THE BEARD' competing against 'ARMY' in a battle of the bands held at The Lynnwood roller rink sometime around fall or winter of 1967. 'ARMY' won. Those guys had a command of their instruments that belied their young age; especially Don Wilhelm who sang lead, played guitar and Hammond organ. Anyway, maybe you can post that picture on 'ARMY'S' page in NW bands. Bye now.
