Comments: Hi, My daughter told me about this site a while back and she's right! This is very cool. Seaway brings back lots of memories of playing gigs with The Cherry Frost. To give you the short version, I married my bass player, our daughter is 24 and an awesome musician, and we are still playing and recording music; different band names of course. I had great memories hanging out with you guys. I always felt like I'd missed something historically monumental by not being able to see the "summer of love" happening in San Francisco ( way too young) but, with all respect, you guys seemed to have captured a microcosm of that world for anyone who knew you and the band. I grew up listening to the sirs. both Dick Yandell and Adrian Simila were my neighbors. i remember when Dick got his first set of drums...i think they were Lugwigs...i remeber being in his basement and figuring out different rythms and beats. the first song i ever learned on the guitar was Proud Mary...thanks to Dick and Brad Hollis. I still play the guitar and I was certainly influenced by these guys. Comments: Wow, dumb luck is exactly how I stumbled across this site. Some of my best memories took place playing my Harmony guitar in The Invaders! Playing for high school dances, private parties, hotels, etc.
The guys in the band were like brothers. Cramming all that equipment in my Mom's 1956 Chevy wagon, along with Four guys who always made my Mom gag from our farting, which we thought was so very funny.
I miss those days and wouldn' trade them for anything. A BIG SHOUT OUT TO all the bands we competed in the "Battle of the Bands" at the Teen Fair held at the Memorial Coliseum and all the guys who were in the band after my departure. Thank you Dino and Les Hoppe for all your help setting up and tearing down after each show. One big regret, the Day Music Company episode. I'll say no more. Quia!

Comments: Scott, the drummer, was the one person who lasted thru all the changes (except for a short hitch in the reserve, when rim-shot Mike filled in. Scott and I were stolen from the "Tremblers" (who are not on, but will be, this site)and added to a group which became the "El Caminos". Dick Earle was lead guitar of the Tremblers. I was 2nd fiddle... I mean rhythem. They did mostly Duane Eddy type stuff, and all was instrumental... we couldn't sing, and in 58-60 that was not that important. Anyway, back to the El Caminos. Gary Stackhouse was on lead, me on 2nd, I don't know on 3rd...arrghhh
Micky Enos, who was a verrrry old 23 or so, was on sax, and played it reallly well. Gary Snyder (later with the viceroys and Dynamics) played bass, and a cute girl named Georgia was our parttime gal singer, with Tiny Tony as the main draw for quite a while(later with other groups like "The Statics" et.al.). Hey, this could become a book! In late '61 I ended up in the army for 3 years. When I got back, Scott was still drummin' away. Everyone else was different. It was still the El Caminos. I joined as keyboard player. If you go to our page on this site you'll here a bit of "Hog for You Baby" (which I always hated). We recorded that in someone's basement. Had egg cartons covering the walls to dampen extraneous? sound.
one of my favorite gigs was a battle with The Dynamics at Parkers. Of course it wasn't a real battle. Dynamics were more polished from the start, but our lead vocal, Woody could hold his own, or more, against Jimmy Hanna ... woo woo.
Anyhow, we faded in and out of obscurity in the Northwest until '68, when, as all bands, do, we broke up, leaving our 2nd name "The Entertainers with Woody Carr, and our short moment in the sun, to slip away into the night. Scott, the only level-headed member of the band (and keeper of the books & money), was to help many of us reunite after almost 40 years. It was the greatest get-together. Far Out! Outta Site,Man!
So, to all my fellow band mates, Scott, Dick E., Mark W.,Mike N., John S., Woody Carr, Tiny Tony, Georgia, Dave C, Dave R., Micky E., Gary Snyder, Gary Stackhouse,..from me Gary (Baron Von*)Carter, I'll be seein' ya when I see ya. *A cute little read-headed gal at a White Center dance hall gave me that monicker.

Comments: Heard about my cousin Evan Groom's death and did a search for him. Great story about the Solid Fuels. I last saw him at the house on 29th and Lawrence in 1979. I can only remember one other time meeting him, he was sixteen amd I was thirteen(I think). We were at an aunt's house in New Jersey and he was showing me some stuff on the guitar. He was a pretty cool guy to me. I was sad to hear he had passed.

Comments: I remember booking Wicked Orange in 74, to play at Vancouver Tech High School. They reminded me of Foghat. Our other performers at dances that year were Heart, Sweeney Todd (with a 15 yr old Bryan Adams) and Applejack (later Trooper). Those were the day they don't have dances like that anymore. As a student council member I used to call Bruce Allen and others to book bands. Heart cost $550. LOL It would be nice to see them get back together and finish that album. Time ticks on.

Comments: I used to work for Jerry Dennon -- asked him for a tape of 'The Skyboys' album a few years back and he delivered. My sister, Meredith Flynn (AKA Meredith Aldrich, Meredith DeSaubies) got me the job with Jerry at the same time that Linda Score was working for him -- I ran the mailroom and sent out SO many demo tapes! I moved up in the sales ranks to get to travel with the band and remember many good concerts in dive-ass bars (until 2 AM!) before I hit the radio stations (at 6 AM) to convince the PD to play the boy's songs -- I personally love 'Santo Domingo' -- with the ballad that escapes my recollection at the moment, as a close second - a great outlaw ballad. I am SO happy that someone has put them on the web -- truely a great NW band!!!!!!

I babysat for a guy named Hal Hibbert, he had a record put out by jr. cadillac (I loved it) and he always said he was related to someone in the band,who that was i dont remember. I know that he would go and see them when they would play on the Mishinock(sp), it was a party boat the cruised coeur d alene lake. Anyway, does anyone know of a record they put out in the 70s, what i remember is I LOVED it!!! I dont remember the name of it etc. that would make it all too easy. I did play with the listed musicians, but not under the name 'Phoenix'. We only played a couple of gigs under the name Crazy Otto. Other bands I played in (drums or guitar) were: Bogus Band, J.C. Boogie Blues Band, The Sound and the Fury, The World, Lost Horizons, The Revels, and very short stints with The Vandals, Ziggy Cofield, and The Stags (reunion) amongst others. I am trying to get back in touch with my musical side, and it would be great to find some old friends to help ease myself back into the local music scene(s).I recall meeting Chris and hearing him play (I was a student at Cornish at the time...) And having just recently "found" the Christopher Gross Ensemble (yes, I see CGE made two CDs), I wish I could hear them play live sometime.
Is there any chance? Is the Ensemble still intact or is Chris doing something else with those otherworldly chops these days?

Comments: How wierd is this. In 1968 (I was a freshman in HS) We started a band called "The Day's End" honest !!! Located in Ladora, Iowa. Later (1972) as members changed the band was called "The New Day's End"Glad to see some of you are still playing!!

I checked my old collection of stuff and found out I hired you for a christmas dance in 1964 for 50 bucks and then again in feb and april school teens dance and you were called the vancouver shantelles. I,ve still got the tickets for the dances. there was only four or five of you in dec and i think you were called mystics the next two dances you had the brass section and charged 100 bucks. great times. I worked at "The Cave" way back when, and worked at the "Body Shop" when it became the Metro and moved to Georgia St. I wish you had "Sugar Daddy's" on the list too. Vancouver, B.C. was a rocking place in the late 70's and 80's. I'll keep checking back, hopefully somebody will find some pics of the Body Shop. Wish I knew how to get ahold of Candy or some of the others I worked with.

Comments: I have very fond memories of The band before they were "Kracker" and my song request was always "Brown Eyed Girl". I was 16 when I was getting into El Patio for the "after Hours" gig. I had a wonderful, but short relationship with Dale, before my mom dragged me kicking and screaming to Cali. Not without the most wonderful gift.....Nine months later I delivered a beautiful baby girl. I didn't tell Dale, and that was my only regret. We did get to see each other again sometime around 1984 I think and he was introduced to her for the first time. She is now 32, and had discovered his passing today on this site. Although she was never raised with Dale, or kept in contact, this news hit her very hard.

Comments: Just by chance I googled Larry Hayton and shuzzam. Here I am. I just wanted to thank Larry Hayton and Rod Goodrich for letting me and my friends pack your equipment each time Trueman Coyote played at the arena hall in Castlegar. I started in awe at Larry, Jim Alton and Rod and at the same time, I learned cords and cord patterns. You guys will never know how much of an impression you made on me and my life. I am 53 years old and I have a Red Double Cutaway Les Paul (Like Jim) and a Gold Top Les Paul (like Larry). I still play in a rock band to this day. We look funny but we sound great.
